‘Stuff’ does happen – and we’re are the midst of ‘happenings’ right now. We’ve been under construction with bathroom repairs and remodels … still have several weeks of that coming up. Yesterday we were greeted with ice-cold water… announcing the demise of our water heater – which flooded the garage on its way to calling for a replacement. What a day!
As I ponder the day’s events I just have to say Praise God anyway, and always! He has blessed me with my home and the provisions I need to take care of it. He has held me up through every adventure. I am loved. I am as safe as one can feel in this wicked old world, and I am never alone.
There are many things we could worry about as we consider our world today. We’ve been stressed by a Pandemic with isolation and other disruptions; Personal health concerns; Racial and Political divisions; Economic crises; and headlines that scream of fraud, murder, and mayhem on international, national, and local levels. So, an undercurrent of ongoing stress is understandable.
We don’t have to face it all alone. In fact, we are encouraged to ‘Be not afraid’ and to avoid worry. That doesn’t mean we get lost in denial. It means that we know we have grace, mercy, and love to shield us. We can hold on. Sometimes we have to deliberately remind ourselves (even repeating that certainty out loud and/or quoting scriptures that affirm it).
When we’re ready for a break from ALL of the negatives, we can hide in the arms of our Loving God. It’s OK to pour out all of our woes and worries to Him. He can handle it. He knows our every anxious thought anyway.
Our God loves to hear from us. What’s even better is to know that He’s still in control (no matter what some circumstances might seem to say), and He loves us. He hears us – even when all we can express are tears. We don’t need to use elegant words That’s my encouragement.
The water heater replacement was completed today. Praise God! The garage is airing out. I am walking with much less pain than I had yesterday. This week the contractor will resume remodeling work. In a few weeks, I will be able to get things cleaned up and more organized – and I’ll take the second Covid vaccine too. While I’m counting my blessings, I’m going to call my loved ones and let them know how thankful I am that they are in my life.
My ‘stuff’ isn’t nearly as heavy a load of burdens to bear as many others are coping with. I will say a prayer for you and for all who struggle with their own loads. We can lift each other up and we can all Praise God … no matter what.
Whatever stressors you are facing – hang on. We will hold on together for the rest of our cold/dry winter. Spring will come again, and we will rejoice.
Blessings, Love, and Laughter to you!
Marge

Great article! It’s good to be reminded that God has it under control, because that’s so easy to forget, then we fall victim to stress or depression.
